Some of my fondest childhood (and adulthood) memories are of the Sunday afternoons at Grandma Rosie’s house. Nine times out of ten it was “pasta cu sugu”, meatballs, and salad, but she made roasts, chicken, spiedini…
The food was important, but so was the process. My sister, cousins and I would hang out in the kitchen with Grandma and watch her cook. She would tell us stories about her parents and grandparents who we had never had the chance to meet.
We would help a little, but it was mostly learning through osmosis. The way she mixed the breadcrumbs and cheese together is something we all still mimic, along with many other mannerisms.
That being said, I’m not a grandma…yet. But I would like to invite you into Zia P’s kitchen for Sunday Supper.
You will be greeted with a welcome cocktail and then head to the kitchen to prepare some snacks. Next we will get started on the dinner menu. We will make two sides, an entree, and dessert.
When everything is ready, we will set the table and sit down together. Wines and a digestivo will accompany our supper.
Don’t worry. We won’t make you do dishes.
